What exactly is PARC-Plymouth Arts & Rec Complex?
PARC-Plymouth Arts & Rec Complex is a non-profit organization which occupies the old Plymouth High School building.
Built in 1917, the 3-story building comprises 160,000-square feet on 16 acres. It functioned as Plymouth High School from 1917-1970.
Then it was Central Middle School from 1971-2015. The school closed, the property was purchased, and a non-profit organization called PARC was created to run the facility.
The former classrooms were repurposed into various business offices. Currently, over 60 tenants occupy the building, including a glassblower, fencing studio, the YMCA, Friends of the Rouge, and even a beekeeping operation on the roof!
Amenities include:
Main Gym, grand hallway, Band Room (75-seat lecture hall), the Jack Wilcox Theater (beautiful 280-seat theater with retractable seating), annex gym, large swimming pool and more.
